In applications such as heating systems, domestic hot water preparation, and industrial process heating, the construction of traditional heat exchange stations often involves the decentralized procurement of various components, on-site assembly, pipe welding, and instrumentation commissioning. This process is not only time-consuming and logistically complex but is also prone to compromised final performance due to limitations imposed by on-site construction conditions. The Tianmiao volumetric heat exchanger features a rigid-base integrated design, wherein the volumetric heat exchanger, circulation water pumps (configured with either a duty/standby pair or variable frequency drives), electrical control cabinet, inlet/outlet valve groups, bypass piping, safety valve groups, thermometers, pressure gauges, and other components are all pre-mounted onto a single steel chassis. All piping connections, instrumentation installations, and electrical wiring are prefabricated and system-commissioned within the factory environment. Once the equipment arrives at the project site, it requires only the connection of the heat medium inlet/outlet, the cold/hot water piping, and the power supply lines to enter the trial operation phase. Compared to the traditional model of purchasing loose components and installing them piece-by-piece on-site, this solution reduces on-site work time by over 70%, making it particularly well-suited for renovation projects characterized by tight schedules, limited site space, or the need for rapid commissioning.
To accommodate heat demand requirements of varying scales, Tianmiao has categorized its volumetric heat exchangers into three standard series: Small, Medium, and Large. The Small series is suitable for independent heating units such as street-front shops, office buildings, and small bathhouses; it features a compact footprint and low noise levels, effectively meeting immediate demands for both hot water and space heating. The Medium series is commonly deployed in venues requiring a stable, 24-hour supply of domestic hot water—such as hospitals, star-rated hotels, and school dormitories—offering reasonable capacity margins and precise control over return water temperatures. The Large series is designed for centralized district heating stations, large-scale industrial complexes, or centralized hot water systems for villa communities, capable of handling continuous heating tasks involving high flow rates and heavy loads.
All specifications within these series utilize an integrated tank design that combines heat storage with heat exchange. By leveraging the inherent water volume buffering characteristics of the volumetric heat exchanger, the system effectively dampens temperature fluctuations on the secondary side caused by variations in water consumption. Even in the event of transient fluctuations in the pressure or flow rate of the primary heat source (steam or high-temperature hot water), the unit’s outlet water temperature remains stable and constant, thereby preventing sudden temperature swings that could compromise user comfort or process stability.
Rather than being a “one-size-fits-all” standard product, Tianmiao volumetric heat exchangers offer flexible customization options ranging from materials and component brands to control strategies. Depending on the corrosivity of the water source and specific sanitary requirements, customers may select carbon steel (featuring an internal anti-corrosion lining) or 304/316L stainless steel. The stainless steel models are particularly well-suited for direct domestic hot water supply applications, as well as for the pharmaceutical and food industries, where stringent water quality standards are paramount. For circulation pumps, customers can choose from a selection of top-tier domestic and international brands—such as Grundfos, Wilo, and Nanfang Pump—and configure them for single-pump operation, alternating dual-pump operation, or variable-frequency energy-saving control. The basic configuration features a temperature controller and interlocking safety protections, while the upgraded version incorporates a PLC programmable controller and a touchscreen interface, enabling remote data acquisition and fault alarm capabilities. Furthermore, the system can be seamlessly integrated into a Building Automation System (BAS) to facilitate fully unattended operation. The orientation of inlet/outlet ports, pipe diameters, base types (fixed or sliding), and the material and thickness of the thermal insulation layer can all be custom-designed to precisely match specific on-site conditions.
As specialized equipment, Tianmiao volumetric heat exchangers are rigorously designed, manufactured, and commissioned in strict compliance with the GB150 and TSG 21 regulatory standards. All pressure-bearing welds undergo non-destructive testing—specifically radiographic or ultrasonic inspection—while surface welds are additionally subjected to magnetic particle or penetrant testing. Furthermore, all valve assemblies and instrumentation components selected for the units are certified products that meet applicable regulatory requirements.
Prior to leaving the factory, every heat exchanger undergoes a comprehensive series of tests: A hydrostatic pressure test is conducted at 1.5 times the design pressure, maintained for a sufficient duration to verify that all welds, flange connections, and threaded joints are free of leaks and visible deformation. Additionally, for applications involving flammable, toxic, or leak-sensitive media, an airtightness test using compressed air or nitrogen is performed to ensure a completely leak-free system seal.
